20 Apr Premium Wholesale Wines
One of the hardest things to do when developing a wine list with a customer is working out the balance of the menu. It’s no good having six whites that are all young, fresh and fruity or six reds that are all Old World earthy monsters.
Part of our remit is to find the middle ground when it comes to an eclectic versatile menu. Nobody wants to see a menu that is full of cheaper house varieties but on the flip side no one wants to see a menu that only has wines over £50!
Here is our list of alternative wines that we have started to put into our accounts which fall within the £25 – £30. A premium taste without the price tag.
Chateau Ka Source de Rouge – Lebanon
A delicate bouquet of red fruits and subtle spice whilst red pepper and soft tannins add to the fruit and fills the palate with hints of liquorice.
Thistledown, Cunning Plan Shiraz – Australia
Great depth of ripe plum and blackberry fruit flavours. A full bodied wine with a succulent palate, lively spices and fine velvety tannins. – International Challenge – Silver Award
Ontañón Rioja Gran Reserva – Spain
Top class Rioja from one of the best recent vintages
Gavi La Battistina Nuovo Quadro – Italy
Fine, single estate Gavi di Gavi – textured and complex. This wine has won soooo many awards for its 2017 vintage it’s ridiculous!
Byron Santa Barbera Chardonnay – California, USA
Classic opulent Californian Chardonnay from pioneers of the region.
Sileni ‘The Straits’ Sauvignon Blanc – New Zealand
Rich and intensely flavoured Marlborough Sauvignon perfectly suited to food matching.
